The American singer Tiffany Lee was scared that the thyroid surgery would damage her voice. Now post-surgery, she just released a new EP.
The self-released project Grave Garden recorded under physical distancing measures at the Smoakstack studio in Nashville, Tennessee, is a collection of six indie-pop songs.
Some of the songs have been around a long time, she told the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
“I wanted to record more music a few years ago, but I wasn’t in a place where I was able to deal with that, whether it was the chronic illness I was dealing with or depression or finances.”
Tiffany Lee has been dealing with Graves’ disease for over six years, but she tried to avoid surgery; “I was afraid of losing my voice.”
In 2019 she got worse and finally decided to remove her very swollen thyroid. Luckily enough, it did not destroy her voice, quite the opposite; “my vocal range increased.”
On Instagram, Tiffany Lee (@tiffanylee.music) tells her followers about her struggle with Graves, and she shows pictures of herself before and after the surgery.
